Vásárhelyi Antal festészete a csend, a reflexió és a belső rend művészete. Műveiben a sík nem puszta felület, hanem olyan hely, ahol a látható valóság átalakul, ahol a geometria és a szimbólum találkozik, hogy a nézőnek megnyissa a végtelen megtapasztalását. 1950-ben született Szatmárnémetiben, és Bukarestben tanult (1969–1973). Vásárhelyi Antal pályáját az ország határain túl építette, 1979-től Magyarországon telepedett le, majd 1989 és 1999 között Németországban, Nürnbergben élt. A Magyar Rézkarcolók és Litográfusok Egyesületének elnöke, valamint a budapesti Galéria IX igazgatója volt, ahol több mint 150 kiállítást rendezett.
